2019 Scholarship Luncheon
On Saturday, June 15, 2019 , PTLEF held a scholarship luncheon at Bourbon Street Seafood Kitchen for its Six (6) DREAM MAJOR © Scholarship recipients along with their family and friends. The PTLEF Scholarship Committee, chaired by Brother Willie Heard II, recognized the scholars for their high academic achievement and for service to their community and school. Each DREAM MAJOR © Scholar will matriculate to an accredited post-secondary institution of higher learning courtesy of funds raised by PTLEF through generous contributions from the San Antonio Community during the 2019 DREAM MAJOR © Gala.

Ms. Sydney R Blakely
Congratulations to PTLEF Scholarship recipient Ms. Sydney R. Blakely!!
Ms. Blakely has graduated from Douglas MacArthur High School with a 102.9 GPA. She plans to attend University of Oklahoma to pursue a degree in Bio-Medical Engineering.
Some of her awards & activities include:
National Honor Society; Best of Show District Competition – Electrical Systems Technology Magnet Program; Team Captain – Varsity Women’s Basketball Team; Section Leader – Marching Band; Participated in the High School Performance Series at Carnegie Hall and in Sydney, Australia.
Mr. Nathaniel D. Culbreath
Congratulations to 2019 Pi Theta Lambda Educational Foundation, Inc. Scholarship recipient Mr. Nathaniel D. Culbreath. Mr. Culbreath has graduated from Canyon High School with a 97.2 GPA. He has received several acceptance letters to different Universities and plans to pursue a degree in computer science. Upon completion he plans to join the United States Air Force to accomplish his dreams of becoming a pilot.

Spearheaded Operation iCare Homeless Veteran Care Box Drive; Volunteer with American Red Cross; Student Mentor for Comal ISD; National Honor Society; Team Captain – Canyon Football Team; Team Captain – Track Team; 2nd Team Academic All-State Football; Honorable Mention All-District Football; Delegate for Texas Boy State.
Ms. Emily Ruiz
Congratulations to 2019 Pi Theta Lambda Educational Foundation, Inc. Scholarship recipient Ms. Emily Ruiz. Ms. Ruiz is a graduate from Young Women’s Leadership Academy with a 100.5 GPA. She has received several acceptance letters and plans to pursue a double major with degrees in Biology and Psychology. Upon completion she plans to accomplish her dreams of becoming a doctor.

Mr. William Sands III
Congratulations to 2019 Pi Theta Lambda Educational Foundation, Inc. Scholarship recipient Mr. William Sands III. Mr. Sands is a graduate from Johnson High School with a 105.87 GPA and will be attending Vanderbilt University. He plans to pursue a degree in Biomedical and Electrical Engineering while continuing to play Football. Upon completion he will pursue a career in research and development of innovative devices that diagnose and treat neurological injuries focusing on injuries related to sports. Mr. Sands also was previously posted on our page May 29 as a recipient of a 2019 NPHC Scholarship.

Mr. Jordan Sorrell
Congratulations to 2019 Pi Theta Lambda Educational Foundation, Inc. Scholarship recipient Mr. Jordan Sorrell. Mr. Sorrell is a graduate of Sam Houston High School with a 92.75 GPA. He has received several acceptance letters from various universities where he plans to pursue a degree in Music with a minor in Performance Arts.

Ms. Caiya Wiltshire
Congratulations to Ms. Caiya Wiltshire. Ms. Wiltshire is a graduate of Alamo Heights High School with a GPA of 98.26. She plans to attend North Carolina A&T to pursue a bachelor & master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. Upon completion her career goal is to invent prosthetic that will target veterans and to invent medical instruments that will aid surgeons in savings lives.
