Campaign to End Medical Debt w/ RIP Medical Debt

Promoting Brotherhood While Providing Advocacy and Service for the Bexar County Community

For over 30 years, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. – Pi Theta Lambda Chapter (ALAMO ALPHAS) has been a progressive voice within ALPHA and the greater San Antonio area. We are forever grateful for the benefactors that supported our Inaugural RIP Medical Debt campaign that ended on March 2021. Thanks to the generosity of benefactors, like YOU, our campaign raised over $12,500. This translated to RIP Medical Debt leveraging the funds raised to help wipe out over $2.8 million of medical debt for our Bexar County neighbors. The gravity of this philanthropic initiative directly impacted 1,330 families in Bexar County, who had their medical debts FORGIVEN!

As we commemorate 115 years of ALPHA, we look forward to steadfastly advancing Brotherhood, Service, and Advocacy in the Alamo City. Despite our laudable efforts, we remain acutely aware that many more of our Bexar County neighbors will struggle with paying their medical expenses. To that end, Pi Theta Lambda Chapter is committed to supporting altruistic endeavors, like RIP Medical Debt, to help our Bexar County neighbors avoid medical bankruptcy and prevent their lives from being upended.

Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. – Pi Theta Lambda Chapter’s 2022 Fundraising Campaign

From December 10, 2021, through March 31, 2022, Pi Theta Lambda Chapter will again campaign to raise a minimum of $10,000 in an effort to eliminate $1 million worth of medical debt. For each dollar ($1.00) donated, approximately $100.00 of medical debt in Bexar County can be forgiven. By partnering with RIP Medical Debt, we can help eligible families in Bexar County to retire their medical debt. RIP Medical Debt is able to purchase debt portfolios on the medical debt marketplace below their value.

In 2021, the Brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. – Pi Theta Lambda Chapter led by example during our Inaugural RIP Medical Debt campaign. We also humbly acknowledge that we were not able to exceed last year’s goal alone. We hope more people of goodwill will help to support our 2022 campaign as we try to provide peace of mind to MORE of our neighbors in the Alamo City and the surrounding areas of Bexar County. Thank you for considering support of our 2022 RIP Medical Debt campaign.
